BRING AN UNDULATING “UNDERWATER” ABSTRACT PAINTING TO YOUR HOME ENVIRONMENT WITH MY COLORIST AVENIDA TRIPTYCHS.
My Avenida Triptychs is a return to a “being underwater” theme that shows up in my work from time to time. This theme began with my “Land of 10,000 Lakes” Minnesota background. I develop this series by creating individual square works that I assemble into triptych form. I begin by “coloring outside the frame” of the electronic canvas and then pull paint onto the iPad’s live screen. The Avenida Triptychs remind me of coastal Monterey Bay kelp beds. It’s as if I’m actually underwater observing the ocean turbulence and hypnotic undulation of the kelp in an abstract sense. The end result is an engaging, beautiful, and exuberant abstract painting.
