Glowing sea creatures at night down in the ocean’s depths—that is what came to mind as I was painting this. There are trillions of tiny creatures in the deep ocean and many leave a brilliant neon trail of light as they move through the dark. The Firefly Shrimp come to mind as they exhibit a stunning neon light show called bioluminescence. To me, it’s a mystery of the deep as these beautiful organisms release heat, light, and energy, and I wanted to explore that in this piece.
