Fields of California poppies dotting the hills over looking the Pacific Ocean above Pacifica. I vividly recalled this vista when working on and finishing this painting. There is just something highly memorable about that particular orange. I planted them in our San Francisco backyard only to later realize that they attract gophers, who don’t appreciate the unique orange like I do. They just devour them. There is such a power to the orange. I just stop in my tracks and succumb to their sunny spell.
